Mireille Rominger was born and raised in France.
She came to Canada in 1964 to further her knowledge of English but she changed her original plan of returning to her homeland and became a Canadian citizen. She lived in the Toronto area until 2004 when she relocated to Barrie where she is now a resident.
Interested in graphic arts, she enrolled in different art classes offered at the Klim School of Art in Thornhill between 1997 and 2004.
During this period, she studied with artists Alex Shtelman and Betty Herman.
Mireille’s paintings are an emotional response to her subjects, be it a portrait, a landscape or a still life. Though her work so far has been mainly figurative, it is emotions which are the real inspiration of her colorful acrylic paintings.
Her work has been shown at several exhibits
1999- 2004: several group exhibits at the Klim School of Art
June 2003: group exhibit at the City Playhouse Theater in Thornhill
2007: group exhibit on three occasions at the Barrie Art Club
Dec 5, 2007, Jan 27, 2008: Group exhibit at MacLaren Art Centre in Barrie

The Practice of Art - the Art of Practice
Learning to paint is a demanding process and persistent practice is a key element in that process.
The Barrie Art Club is pleased to offer the opportunity for aspiring artists to develop their skills in a series of weekly sessions commencing Wednesday October 8th 2008
This 10 week program, held each Wednesday evening from 7.00-9.00pm at the Barrie Art Club gallery, will emulate methods employed in classical art training.
Artists will have the opportunity to practice making black and white copies of selected paintings. This exercise allows students to focus their full attention on the distribution and modulation of values, which helps them get a full understanding of tonal composition.
A selection of sculptures will also be available. The goal of learning to paint a sculpture, reducing a complex three-dimensional object onto a two-dimensional surface while re-creating the illusion of depth and volume, helps to distil and master essential principles.
This series is available free of charge to members of the Barrie Art Club and at a cost of $5.00 per session for non-members.
The Barrie Art Club provides a friendly, supportive and non-judgemental environment for artists from beginner to advanced. The single aim of this series is to provide an opportunity to practice our art.
This program has been made possible in part by a grant from Trillium.
